Vic: Vic firefighters face hot temperatures in battling blazes
MELBOURNE, Jan 12 AAP - More than 700 firefighters face soaring temperatures in Victoria'snorth-east today as they battle to contain 15 bushfires in inaccessible countryside.
With today's temperature forecast to hit 34 degrees, firefighters worked through thenight backburning and bulldozing to create control lines in a bid to cut off the fires.
The work helped to contain two blazes, north of Heyfield in Gippsland and at MountMittamatite, which has burnt 2,500 hectares close to the town of Corryong.
