WA: One of two escaped prisoners recaptured

A 19-year-old prisoner who escaped from a Perth court complex yesterday has been recaptured.

The teenager was the second prisoner to flee the supervision of a private courts-security
contractor in as many days.

BRETT OTLEY was arrested at the near-city suburb of Glendalough about 1.30pm (WST)
and taken back to Hakea remand centre.

Police say he'll be charged with escaping lawful custody.

OTLEY, who escaped yesterday from the Joondalup court complex, was the second prisoner
in two days to flee while under guard by officers from the Corrections Corporation of
Australia, who took over Western Australia's court and prisoner security services in July.

The first prisoner, 24-year-old DAVID GRAEME HINTZ, remains at large.

The CCA was fined a total of $50,000 over the breaches and came under fire from the
state's opposition who claimed public safety had been put at risk because of Premier RICHARD
COURT'S privatisation agenda.
